Eastbound trains to Newark/New York City will have any dome equipment cut off at Camden. Westbound trains from Newark/New York City will have any dome equipment cut in at Camden. The Senator and Victorian have through sleepers to/from Florida, prior to Amtrak. Long distance and express trains between New York City/Newark and Camden will stop only at Newark (New York trains) and Bordentown. The Westwind will have through sleepers for/from the City of Los Angeles and the California Zephyr, prior to Amtrak.

for the South Jersey & Western only.Notes: The Phantom is the SJ&W's preimer passenger train, equivilant to the PRR's Broadway Ltd. and the NYC's 20th Century Ltd. It competed, indirectly, with the Broadway from the Philadelphia region to Chicago. The West Wind is the SJW's crack passenger train between Washington D.C. and Chicago, competing with the PRR's Broadway Ltd.'s Washington section and the B&O's Capitol Ltd. It also hauled the connecting sleepers to Chicago for the California Zephyr and the City of Los Angeles prior to Amtrak. In fact the CZ and CoLA cars did show up in its consist timed to make the connections, well after the formation of Amtrak, until the West Wind started using Speedliner equipment.

The East Coast Service trains are the equivilant of Amtrak's Regional Service trains, running between PSNY and WUS. Though Amtrak can claim a faster running time, the ECS trains serve different cities enroute and provide a host of different amneities: checked baggage, the ability to take your pets onboard, an "Office Car" for those business people that want someplace to set up their laptops, yet not strain the food service car, and an observation car dedicated to the business people who want to unwind. The observation cars also have a small confrence area for those that want to hold meetings on the train. So though the service is slower, it more than makes up for it with it in the "creature comforts" area.
All trains to/from Philadelphia will use Pennsylvania Railroad's Broad St. station and 30th St. station, except for ex-Reading commuter and local services which use Reading Terminal.
The Baltimore/Washington commuter trains change numbers in Baltimore: i.e. Baltimore bound train #1600, from Avondale, becomes train #1700 in Baltimore and continues to Washington. The process is reversed northbound: i.e. Train #1701, from Washington becomes train #1601 in Baltimore and continues to Avondale. The printed schedules have both numbers (1600/1700) listed.
Odd train numbers are north or westbound and even numbered trains are south or eastbound.
With the Philadelphia and Newark/New York Commuter services the numbering is broken up by hundreds for different routes: i.e. For Philadelphia, the West Chester Service would have a different "hundred" series than the Atlantic County service.
Gloucester County, NJ will be served by those trains running through it to other counties.
